You are considered a first year student for this internship if you have 29 or fewer credit hours received from PSU (or transfered from any outside institution). We do not count AP credit hours in this calculation.
Students applying as a Sophomore or Junior need to qualify and apply through the MURE pathway.

Program
Which program(s) within the undergraduate internship program do you qualify for?
Note: selecting more than one program does not increase your chances for selection. All three programs are part of the main PA Space Grant Research Internship program.
WISER: Women in Science and Engineering Research. Open to all first-year students but focuses on supporting outstanding women interested in pursuing research on campus.
MURE: Minority Undergraduate Research Experience. Supporting underrepresented minority students interested in pursuing research on campus that are in their first-year, sophomore, or junior years. Minority students are defined as African-American, Hispanic, Native American, or Pacific Islander. Students of Asian descent are not considered minority students by NASA.
FURP: First-year Undergraduate Research Program. Open to all first-year students interested in research; those with economic hardship are encouraged to apply.
