The VMEC Summer Scholars Program offers juniors and seniors attending a university in Virginia the opportunity for hands on research using state of the art technology in either an academic or industrial environment. Virginia Microelectronics Consortium (VMEC) mentors work closely with students to ensure that the program is as rewarding as possible. Students will have the chance to make new contacts and network with many people as well as receiving a competitive stipend.

Strong preference is given to candidates with a 3.0 GPA or better.
Letter of recommendation required (from a technical mentor or professor is preferred).
Students should review the available project descriptions for each host VMEC location to select their preferred locations.
Internship Requirements
ï‚· Must attend beginning of summer kick-off meeting and give introductory oral report
ï‚·Must work 12 or 13 weeks on project
ï‚· Must attend the summer scholar presentation meeting and give an oral report and poster. 
Participating Internship Locations: Micron - 6 intern slots; BAE Systems - 2 slots; College of William and Mary - 1 slot; ODU - 1 intern slot; Mason - 1 intern slot; UVa - 1 slot; VCU - 1 slot; NSU - 1 slot; Virginia Tech - 1 slot.
