Internship Title:Image Recognition of Aquarium Events
Brief Internship Description:
The interns will build software prototypes of image recognition algorithms intended to automate the identification of fish species in a consumer fishtank (5-100 gallon). Apply existing vision libraries and artificial intelligence. Incorporate software models into a distributed computing environment from the smartphone to cloud computing, as well as data storage for video segments, data analytics and scalable architecture. Incorporate cybersecurity best practices for data at rest and in motion.
Full Internship Description:
Work alongside our software and project management team to prototype vision recognition systems for consumer-level fish tanks (5-100 gallon) with USB-type cameras intended to capture motion and still-frames. Automate fish species characterization, and predict fish health as well as water quality diagnosis. The interns will work in a variety of software coding environments, potentially including python, java, C, and mobile app languages for Android and iOS. Cybersecurity concerns include video feed security both as captured, and stored in local and cloud environments, designing for resistance to reverse-engineering, and protecting stored as well as transmitted data. Participate in agile development environment, including daily standups, sprint reviews, and team discussions. Present findings to a panel of experts in the pet care industry as well as software experts.
