| Full Internship Description: |
Agricision, Inc. is seeking a UAV Pest Detection Technology Intern to assist with the continued development of our Pest Detection Pod and proprietary software for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) scout system. This internship will provide hands-on experience at the intersection of precision agriculture, unmanned aircraft systems, machine learning, software development, and sensor technology. The intern will work alongside Agricision’s engineering and software development teams to support the integration, testing, and refinement of the pest detection system. The technology is being developed to use machine learning and onboard sensing to detect and identify agricultural pests during flight, geotag their locations, and provide actionable field data that can support more precise and targeted crop treatment. Depending on the intern’s background and experience, responsibilities may include assisting with software development and testing, machine-learning model development and validation, image and data collection, sensor and camera integration, UAV hardware integration, field testing, data analysis, troubleshooting, and documenting system performance. The intern may also assist the team in evaluating how hardware, software, sensors, and UAV flight systems work together as an integrated platform. We are seeking a student with STEM expertise or coursework in one or more of the following areas: computer science, software engineering, artificial intelligence/machine learning, computer vision, data science, electrical or computer engineering, robotics, mechatronics, unmanned aerial systems, or a related engineering discipline. Experience with programming, machine learning, computer vision, image processing, embedded systems, sensors, electronics, or UAV technology is beneficial but not required in every area. We are particularly interested in candidates who enjoy hands-on problem solving and are comfortable working on an emerging technology where software and hardware development occur simultaneously. This internship offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of a real-world agricultural technology designed to help farmers identify pest pressures more efficiently, improve the precision of crop treatments, and reduce unnecessary chemical applications. The intern will gain practical experience working with a multidisciplinary team while participating in the research, development, integration, and testing process required to move an innovative UAV technology toward commercialization. |
